Zandile’s appreciation for LLLSA support

My breastfeeding journey started off being more challenging than I expected. I struggled with my baby not latching properly, which made feeding very painful. She was choking during the let-down (milk release) and I didn't know what to do. I wasn't even sure what was happening. My breasts became sore, nipples cracked, and my milk ducts felt clogged, which made me feel discouraged and I wanted to stop breastfeeding.
That’s when the support from the LLLSA Parow WhatsApp group made such a big difference in my journey. I received guidance, encouragement, and reassurance that what I was going through was not unusual. With the help I received, I learned better positioning and latch techniques, and slowly things began to improve.
Over time, the pain reduced, my baby was able to latch better, and feeding became a more comfortable and bonding experience. What started as a difficult journey turned into something very special.
I’m proud to say that I was able to continue breastfeeding for two years. My daughter is 5 years old now, and looking back, I’m so grateful that I didn’t give up during those early challenges, and I truly appreciate the support and kindness I received. It gave me the confidence to keep going. Having a group like La Leche League is a blessing and I will really encourage new mothers to join the group. They do support and encourage you tremendously.
Thank you Gwynneth and the other Leaders for being part of my journey and for supporting so many mothers like me.
