We are a volunteer-run, non-profit organisation and our mission is to help mothers
breastfeed with confidence, through encouragement, shared experience, education and
information.

Who we are
La Leche League volunteers are experienced mothers trained and accredited by La Leche
League International. We have been there and we genuinely understand the real ups and
downs that come with breastfeeding. While we are not medical professionals, the
information we offer is medically reviewed, evidence-based and aligned with the World
Health Organisation and UNICEF.

How we can support you
We provide mother-to-mother breastfeeding support, education and information whether
you’re pregnant, navigating those newborn days, returning to work, or nurturing a growing toddler.

You can reach us through:

• One-on-one contact
• Safe, non-judgemental, mother-to-mother group meetings
• Online communities including:

Facebook, Facebook Group, Instagram and WhatsApp

La Leche League South Africa breastfeeding support groups are warm spaces where you can
ask questions, share your experiences and hear how other mothers have overcome
challenges. They are great places to meet breastfeeding mothers and make friends. (Our LLL volunteers who lead meetings are called LLL Leaders).
