Corinne’s gratitude as a grandmother for LLL support

As a grandmother, I was given the privilege of playing an important role in my daughter-in-law's life. Having breastfed my own two sons, who are now fathers themselves, La Leche League was my go-to for encouragement and support 30 years ago. It remains so today, as I care for my breastfed granddaughter while her mommy is at work.
We both had our doubts about how it would work — getting the baby to drink breastmilk from a bottle while still breastfeeding in the mornings and evenings. La Leche League provided expert advice that led to great success.
After the Christmas holidays, the baby weaned herself off the bottle. Now, at 18 months old, she eats a variety of solids and snacks, breastfeeding only when Mommy works from home or on the weekends.
My son initially thought there wasn't much he could do to bond with the baby. However, he now loves their close connection and enjoys watching the very special bond she shares with her mother. As a family, they are building wonderful memories sharing a bed at night, where the baby suckles as she wants, especially when needing more comfort during teething.

Thank you, (LLL Leader) Gwynneth, for your input and your kind, patient, and friendly manner. You helped make this such a beautiful story — one I feel I have truly re-lived through my granddaughter.
