What is Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that follows the popular Black Friday and Cyber Monday events. It’s a movement inspired by giving back in different ways, whether by giving your time or your financial support or any other way you deem fit. It’s also a global movement through which charities and non-profit organizations can source support and draw awareness to their causes.
Why did LLLSA decide to participate
LLLSA is driven by giving. As a volunteer-run non-profit organization (NPO) our core business is giving. Our dedicated volunteers (LLL Leaders) give their time, experience, compassion and so much more to support breastfeeding parents. As an organization, funding is necessary to ensure that our volunteers are capacitated with the necessary training and skills to support breastfeeding families and that our organization can cover our operational costs. LLLSA is run completely by volunteers and therefore driven 100% by the generosity of our volunteers.
What is our objective with Giving Tuesday
This year LLLSA is participating in #GivingTuesday to raise funds and draw attention to the importance of our cause and the work of our LLL leaders. The funds raised will be used to support our volunteers with enrichment courses, to train more volunteers which will enable our organization to support more families and to allow us to cover our running costs.

Take out a LLLSA membership

LLLSA offers 12 month or 6 month membership. Membership is a wonderful way to support us and to stay connected with the work we do. Membership ensures our organization is around to support more families in meeting their breastfeeding goals. LLLSA members receive discounts on books, access to group library books, e-magazine Breastfeeding Matters and our LLLSA e-newsletter SunLLLight. For more details on taking on membership click here
2. Make a donation

A donation to LLLSA will ensure our organization can cover our operational costs and allow us to better support our leaders. Financial support will help us to promote our cause and provide support to more families in isolated areas by training more leaders. Financial donations can be made via Snapscan or direct electronic funds transfer. To donate to LLLSA see here
3. Sign up to the MySchool program and list LLLSA as a beneficiary

As a beneficiary of the MySchool program LLLSA gets paid a percentage of your purchase by the MySchool program every time you swipe your card. You can sign up for a free MySchool card and/or link your Woolworths card (Rewards or store card) to the program and list La Leche League South Africa as a beneficiary. It will cost you nothing to sign up to the program but will provide LLLSA with much needed financial support by shopping and swiping your card at partner stores.
